Gulch

I've had these photos for a while now and finally got the okay to post them on here. Action is always good. Andrew Miller from Snowrev.com took these of Harrison Gordon while visiting Utah.

Harry, switch frontside 5.

Boardin' Gordon.

Desiree's Pen Pal

Justin Meyer was giving me some heat for not updating my blog. Fortunately Desiree was compassionate enough to send me this collage her pen pal John made. She also sent me two Microsoft Paint pictures that Harrison 'Boardin' Gordon' drew, but I can't upload them for some reason. So I'll just have to wait until I get home from Mammoth.

Mi Gente in Detroit

Josh Mills, Jordan Mendenhall, and Jon Kooley are bundled up in Detroit right now with Bryan Fox and the People crew. Detroit's got mad criminal activity, something for all us thugs to think about when planning our next vacation.

Detroit fool.

Fox's board waiting for the go ahead.

Jordan's super bald, Bryan's pretty bald, and Jon's sorta bald.

Come visit Detroit.

This isn't a camera, it's a robot cyclops. And it's sad.

You can do it!

Like I said, they're bundled up in Detroit.

Take my money, take my girl, whatever you want! Josh Mills making you look the other way. Well actually not in Detroit... "everybody got a pistol, everybody got a 45" - Gil Scott-Heron (Not necessarily talking about Detroit).

That looks aluminum. And the rail already looked scary enough.

Hand it over!

Detroit art.

Looks beautiful. Jussi and DCP would probably jump in there, twice.

Gus Engle and HCSC at Bear Mountain

Ashbury's Gus Engle will be joining fellow High Cascade coaches and Think Thankers Johnny Miller, Jesse Burtner, and Scott Stevens this Feb. 16th - 21st for a winter snowboard camp at Bear Mountain. This poster has all the info you need.

Happy Valentine's Day

Korean Bench

Peter Benchetler is in Korea right now with Signal Snowboards. I think he may even be filming on some new Korean spots with the Autumn Line dudes while he's out there.

This guy was obviously quite the athlete in his younger years.

Pete is seen here sucking all the class out of this $1.7 million Lotus.

Wined and Dined.

Seoul, Korea.

There's no way they're letting this guy past customs. Not a chance.

Peter and Jake Olsen-Elm with a camcorder all up in their grill for an interview.

Peter and our friend Matt Hammer taking a wild ride in another Lotus.

Awwww...

Peter signs autographs. NBD.

The sign reads:

"Yo son!

Check this new spot fool.

Do you like salmon?"

Gold Country

Team Thunder's got a new movie coming. I still haven't seen this year's movie, but I have seen Hay Bails and I liked that. This years movie has a few Ashbury wearers including Desiree Melancon, Harrison Gordon, Nick Dirks, Cody Comrie, and Eric Fernandez.

Mills, Tahoe, Morning, and Holes

Josh Mills just came back from a trip to Tahoe with Bryan Fox and Louie Fountain and MDP People. Next for Josh is Detroit.

These guys arrive at the snowmobile spots at the wee hours of the morning. I don't know where I was when this photo was taken, but I can guarantee I was sleeping.

Imagine getting up that early to go sledding and having to lug around all that camera equipment as well. If I were a photographer I would totally sell photos of non-landed tricks. Screw it, right? Right?

The camp.

Louie, Bryan, and Josh. They even made little cubby holes for their helmets.

Look how fun that jump probably was! And to think I was probably in bed somewhere.

Sand and Foam

Last week while in Vegas I went to Donovan Leitch's website like I usually do hoping that he'll be playing some shows in my vicinity soon. For the last few months they had old shows listed in the UK, but this time they had one in San Juan Capistrano, CA. I bought six tickets, he's my favorite human being. So Mike and I went with some friends tonight for what was one of the best nights of my life.

The venue was super small which added to the amazingness of the night. If you don't know who Donovan is, he's a sixties folk rock star (he prefers Celtec Rock). Gigi's song in Optimistic was Donovan's 'Season of the Witch'.

I've seen Paul McCartney, Simon and Garfunkel, Michael Jackson, The Monkees, The Who, Ten Years After, The Rolling Stones (Nima and I snuck into the Hollywood Bowl for that one), but I've never felt as strongly about every single song played as I did with Donovan. It was insane.

My friend Kenny and I have pretty much the exact same music taste and 'Sand and Foam' is both of our favorite Donovan song. It's not one of his hits so we didn't expect Donovan to sing it tonight, but I kept badgering Kenny to yell for it. The above clip is Donovan singing 'Sand and Foam', that scream you hear at the beginning is Kenny freaking.

George Harrison wrote a verse for 'Hurdy Gurdy Man', Jimmy Page played on the recording and Donovan opted for more Jimmy Page guitar so George's verse never made the cut, here is George's lost verse from 'Hurdy Gurdy Man'.

Donovan stayed after to sign autographs. Mike had him sign the Ashbury 'Loner' shirt which is a drawing that Mike did of Donovan. Mike's girlfriend Jacqui pointed this out to Donovan and he was super into it. He asked Mike to email him so that we could send him the shirt in a Large! Yeah... Donovan wants an Ashbury shirt.

Joey Sexton Trip Photos

Joe, Kooley, and Jordan have been shredding together a bunch this year with MDP-People. Makes sense to me. Here are some photos that Joey's been shooting of the dudes hanging and stuff. When Joey's not snowboarding or running around with his point and shoot he can actually take some really cool photos. These aren't those, but maybe in 15 years when he can become the next big thing behind the lens?

Jordan biting steel.

Big Jon and Little Jon.

Jordan and Jon just finished putting up that piece on some public property in the background.

LNP's filming with Rome, but he's down for People and came out to hang and shoot with the J-Squadron. Yeah I'm calling Joey, Jon, and Jordan the J-Squadron now, deal with it.

Ohhhh... A sneak peak into Jordan's part. Looks like a line.

This photo of Jon is dedicated to all of you close-minded kids or adults out there who exclusively fancy the fit of your own pants. Yep, everyone of you. No matter which side of the fence you're on, this is dedicated to you.
